The Challenge

Parker Brent delivers training for the building and construction sector. Learners needed timely, accurate help while preparing for assessments—without replacing accredited instruction or guessing beyond the official material.

Our Solution

We built an AI assessment helper that retrieves from an indexed knowledge base (RAG), so responses are grounded in Parker Brent documents rather than open-ended hallucination. Students use a dedicated frontend; staff manage content through an admin panel.

• Student-facing app for assessment preparation with retrieval-augmented answers
• Backend services for ingestion, embedding, search, and orchestration
• Admin panel to upload PDFs and course materials—new files are processed into embeddings and merged into the searchable index
• Batch workflows so teams can add multiple documents efficiently

Challenges We Overcame

• Grounding vs. fluency: Tuning retrieval and prompts so guidance is helpful but tied to uploaded sources
• Ingest quality: Handling varied PDFs and structure while producing reliable chunks for indexing
• Operational updates: Making add/remove/re-index paths clear for admins without developer intervention
• Cost and scale: Using serverless storage and compute where bursts of ingestion or traffic spike
